CFP Foundation and Peach Bowl Partner to Support Atlanta Teachers

IRVING, Texas – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc. today announced the funding of classroom projects within the Atlanta Public School (APS) system.

The effort was co-funded by the CFP Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., through its Peach Bowl Cares program, and resulted in $200,000 being used to simultaneously fund 150 projects from grades 5-12, primarily within the core subject areas of math, science, social studies and language arts. The projects funded today will significantly improve the resources available for 133 teachers and 17,500 students at 52 elementary, middle and high schools in Atlanta.

“The CFP Foundation supports teachers nationally, and the Peach Bowl has a long tradition of recognizing the importance of giving back to the Atlanta community,” said Britton Banowsky, executive director of the CFP Foundation. “We are thrilled to be able to partner with them to continue to make a positive impact by supporting teachers in the area.”

The financial commitment from the CFP and the Peach Bowl funded projects listed on the website. is a national organization that allows people to help fund classroom projects that are listed by teachers.

“We’ve been invested in supporting the Atlanta Public Schools system for more than eight years and this is a meaningful and impactful way to grow our support to truly significant levels,” said Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. president and CEO. “As college football’s most charitable bowl game, we take our commitment to charity and scholarship very seriously. It’s a huge part of our mission in the Atlanta community and we are proud to partner with the College Football Playoff Foundation to benefit teachers and students within Atlanta Public Schools.”

Since 2007, the Peach Bowl has operated an academic mentoring program in the APS high schools to help student-athletes improve grade point averages, prepare for college entrance exams and transition into college. The bowl also operates a $4.6 million endowed scholarship program at 25 major universities to help provide college scholarships to Atlanta students. In total, Peach Bowl, Inc. has invested nearly $6 million to help Atlanta students.

Peach Bowl, Inc. has distributed $17.9 million in charitable and scholarship contributions since 2002 through funds from the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament.
