“Alfred’s knowledge of college football makes him a wonderful addition to the CFP family,” said Hancock. “He will be a terrific fit with our team and we are fortunate to have someone of his personality, experience and integrity. Alfred will play a key role in providing high quality service for our customers and partners.”
In his new role, White will oversee the sales and marketing efforts for the CFP, focusing on overall sponsor coordination and activation, Playoff Premium, the Playoff’s corporate hospitality program, premium seating and event sponsorship sales.
“I am excited to start a new challenge within the College Football Playoff and look forward to working with the team to further develop their already extensive reach,” White said. “I am fortunate to be joining such a respected group that prides itself on excellence and a commitment to college athletics.”
White comes to the CFP from Conference USA, where he served as Senior Associate Commissioner since 2004. In that role, he oversaw football, baseball and men’s golf. His football responsibilities included managing the conference’s bowl relationships, officiating and the conference championship.
White boasts a wealth of experience at the highest levels of sports, having served as a conference commissioner, president of a NBA Development League (NBDL) franchise, and as director of corporate marketing at the NCAA. He served as commissioner of the Southern Conference for three years, then was the founding president of the Asheville Altitude, an original franchise of the NBDL.
White, a native of Houston, holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. He will begin his role with the Playoff in mid-June.
