CFP Participants Take Over NFL Combine

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – A total of 143 former College Football Playoff participants were invited to showcase their skills at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, the most in the CFP era.
 
Records were broken throughout the week, beginning with the Styles brothers.
 
Former Ohio State safety and 2025 CFP National Champion, Lorenzo Styles Jr., ran a 4.27-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time ever recorded by a safety at the NFL Combine.
 
His brother, former Buckeye and 2025 CFP National Champion, Sonny Styles, set a new combine record for vertical jump by a linebacker with a 43.5-inch leap. Sonny also ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash, the fastest among the position group at the 2026 combine.
 
Lorenzo and Sonny Styles became the first brothers since 2003 to record the fastest 40-yard dash times within their respective position groups at the NFL Combine.
 
Along with Sonny Styles, former Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Ponds and former Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq also recorded 43.5-inch vertical jumps, which tied for the 10th-best marks in combine history.
 
Ponds, a 2026 CFP National Champion, ranks fourth all-time among cornerbacks with his vertical jump.
 
Sadiq, a 2026 CFP semifinalist also ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, establishing a new combine record for tight ends. Several other former CFP players also finished at the top of their position groups during the week. A full list is below:

  • Lorenzo Styles, Ohio State: 4.27 seconds — 1st all-time among safeties

  • Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon: 4.39 seconds — 1st all-time among tight ends

  • Lorenzo Styles, Ohio State: 1.49 seconds — fastest among safeties at the 2026 combine

  • Malik Muhammad, Texas: 1.51 seconds — tied fastest among cornerbacks at the 2026 combine

  • Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon: 1.54 seconds — fastest among tight ends at the 2026 combine

  • Nambi Obiazor, TCU) / Sonny Styles, Ohio State: 1.56 seconds — tied fastest among linebackers at the 2026 combine

  • Cashius Howell, Texas A&M: 1.58 seconds — fastest among defensive ends at the 2026 combine

  • Zane Durant, Penn State: 1.66 seconds — fastest among defensive tackles at the 2026 combine

  • Parker Brailsford, Alabama: 1.70 seconds — fastest among offensive linemen at the 2026 combine


Vertical Jump

  • Matthew Hibner, SMU/Michigan: 28 reps — most among tight ends at the 2026 combine

  • Adam Randall, Clemson: 26 reps — most among running backs at the 2026 combine

  • Deion Burks, Oklahoma: 26 reps — tied for most among wide receivers at the 2026 combine
