PLAYOFF GREEN LEADERSHIP

The College Football Playoff is a thought and action leader when it comes to sustainable events. Below are some best practices the CFP achieved in January 2026 and will continue to raise the bar in future years.

DATA TRANSPARENCY DATA TRANSPARENCY
Data transparency in GHG emissions, water, and waste use holds Playoff Green accountable, drives continuous improvement, and inspires industry-wide action through shared progress.
ALL MAJOR EVENT VENUES ALL MAJOR EVENT VENUES
Playoff Green recognizes the CFP National Championship is not simply the game at Hard Rock Stadium but all four of the venues associated with the event across the CFP: Hard Rock Stadium, Playoff Fan Central at Miami Beach Convention Center, AT&T Playoff Playlist Live at Lummus Park, and Trophy Trot at South Pointe Park.
LOAD-IN TO LOAD-OUT LOAD-IN TO LOAD-OUT
While the football game kicked off at 7:30pm on Monday, January 19, sustainability efforts began the moment the first truck arrived on January 12 and continued until the final departure on January 23.
ENERGY INNOVATION ENERGY INNOVATION
In 2026, Playoff Green purchased sustainable aviation fuel certificates (SAFc) to cover athlete travel. This investment offset the flight for the visiting athletes, University of Indiana–an immediate and measurable step toward decarbonizing the CFP
LASTING GREEN LEGACY LASTING GREEN LEGACY
To create a positive, lasting, green legacy in the Miami community, Playoff Green activated a coral reef restoration project with the Univeristy of Miami and NFL and donated two turf fields to Boys & Girls Club Miami-Dade.
