College Football Playoff

College Football Playoff Revenue Distribution

The following is a breakdown of the CFP revenue distribution:
  • For the 2025-26 academic year:

    1. Each conference will receive $300,000 for each of its schools when the school’s football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a postseason football game. Each independent institution will also receive $300,000 when its football team meets that standard.

    2. A conference will receive $4 million for each team that makes the College Football Playoff (12 schools) and each team that advances to the CFP Quarterfinals (eight schools).

    3. A conference will receive $6 million for each team that advances to a CFP Semifinal (four schools) and each team that advances to the national championship game (two schools).

    4. Each conference whose team participates in the College Football Playoff will receive $3 million to cover expenses for each round.

  • Based on calculations from the 2025-26 season, the following distributions were made in the spring of 2026:

    1. Each of the 10 conferences received a base amount. For the Autonomy Four conferences, the base combined with the full academic performance pool was approximately $109.33 million for each conference. The six remaining conferences received approximately $155.3 million in aggregate (full academic pool plus base). The 10 conferences distribute these funds as they choose. Including its APR payment, Notre Dame received a payment of $5.49 million and the University of Connecticut received $390,000.

    2. Certain conferences in the Football Championship Subdivision received approximately $3.33 million in aggregate.

Beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, each conference whose team participates in the College Football Playoff will receive $3.18 million to cover expenses for each round. All remaining CFP revenue distribution will be finalized following the 2027 CFP National Championship and paid out in the spring of 2027.
